Wisconsin Police Seek Public’s Help After Drive-By Shooting Between Vehicles in Sun Prairie Leaves One Injured

SUN PRAIRIE, WISCONSIN — The Sun Prairie Police Department (SPPD) is asking for the public’s help after an overnight shooting between two vehicles left one person injured early Tuesday morning.

According to police, multiple callers reported hearing gunfire around 12:50 a.m. near Sunfield Street and Sun Court, prompting a rapid response from officers.

Gunfire Between Two Vehicles

Investigators determined that shots were exchanged between two vehicles, both of which fled the scene before officers arrived.

Officers found shell casings scattered along the roadway, but no suspects or vehicles remained in the area. Shortly after, a gunshot victim arrived at a local hospital, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

“The individual was later transferred to another hospital for further treatment and has since been released,” SPPD said in a press statement.

Police Searching for Witnesses and Footage

Detectives are now seeking home security or doorbell camera footage from residents who live near Sunfield Street and Sun Court between 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. Tuesday.

“Anyone who may have seen or heard suspicious vehicles leaving the area is encouraged to contact us,” police added. “Even small details could help move this case forward.”

Officers believe the individuals involved may have known each other, though the motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
