Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office Seeks Public’s Help to Identify Hit-and-Run Suspect Who Nearly Struck Pedestrian

SENECA, WISCONSIN — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene of a Sunday night crash in Crawford County and nearly struck a pedestrian while speeding away, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the incident occurred around 8:06 p.m. on State Highway 27 near Snyder Road in the Town of Seneca. A Ford F-250 pickup truck was reportedly slowing down behind a vehicle preparing to make a left turn when it was rear-ended by a tan-colored Buick LeSabre, believed to be a late 1990s to early 2000s model.
Suspect Fled at High Speed Toward Mount Sterling
After the collision, the suspect driving the Buick fled northbound on Highway 27 at a high rate of speed, deputies said. The vehicle was later seen entering Mount Sterling, where it almost hit a pedestrian while making a sharp turn onto West Street.
Witnesses told investigators that the Buick appeared to have significant front-end damage consistent with the rear-end crash. The driver did not stop or render aid to the occupants of the Ford pickup, as required by Wisconsin law.
Authorities Seek Tips from the Public
The Crawford County Crime Stoppers and the Sheriff’s Office are now urging residents to come forward with any information that may help identify the suspect or locate the involved vehicle.
“We’re asking anyone who might have seen a tan Buick LeSabre with front-end damage in the area Sunday night to reach out,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a public statement.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crawford County Crime Stoppers at (608) 326-8933 or 1-866-779-PAYS.
Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their information leads to an arrest, criminal charges, or recovery of stolen property.
