Wisconsin Teen Dies by Suicide After Shooting Pregnant Girlfriend and Killing Her Brother
BARRON, WISCONSIN — Authorities have identified the 17-year-old suspect who shot his pregnant girlfriend and killed her brother in a shocking domestic attack last week before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Barron County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Marcus Hinojosa, 17, of Almena, Wisconsin, died at the scene following the deadly shooting on October 1.
The violent incident unfolded inside an apartment at 650 Candy Lane in Barron, where police say Hinojosa opened fire when his girlfriend entered the unit. The attack left 20-year-old Tyler Sadowski dead and his younger sister, Makayla Sadowski, hospitalized with serious injuries.
Tragedy Unfolds at Barron Apartment
According to investigators, the confrontation began when Makayla Sadowski, who was pregnant at the time, entered Hinojosa’s apartment. Moments later, Hinojosa allegedly shot her in the stomach, causing critical injuries that required doctors to perform an emergency delivery of her baby.
Her brother, Tyler Sadowski, rushed to help after hearing the commotion. Authorities say Hinojosa shot him through the front door, killing him instantly. Tyler was pronounced dead at the scene.
When officers arrived, they heard a final gunshot. Hinojosa had turned the gun on himself, ending his life before deputies could make contact.
Victim and Baby Recovering
Police said Makayla Sadowski remains hospitalized in stable condition. Family members told investigators that her baby was delivered safely and is “doing well at the hospital.” The 17-year-old mother is expected to survive, though she continues to recover from the traumatic event that claimed her brother’s life.
Loved ones have described Tyler Sadowski as a caring and protective older brother who sacrificed his life trying to shield his sister. A GoFundMe page has since been launched to support the Sadowski family with funeral and medical expenses.
Snapchat Video of the Shooting Under Investigation
Authorities also confirmed that Hinojosa uploaded footage of the shooting to Snapchat, where it remained visible for several days after the incident. The Barron County Sheriff’s Office stated that it is “still working with Snapchat” to remove the graphic content and prevent further circulation.
The video’s existence has renewed public concern over how social media platforms handle violent content, particularly when crimes are livestreamed or shared before law enforcement can intervene.

The Barron County community has been left shaken by the tragedy, which officials have described as a devastating example of domestic violence among teens. Authorities and victim support organizations are urging residents to reach out for help if they see warning signs of abuse or escalating conflict in young relationships.
