Wisconsin Teen Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash in Dodge County

SHIELDS, Wis. — An 18-year-old driver from Watertown was killed Saturday evening in a single-vehicle crash in Dodge County, according to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office. The incident happened near County Road Q and Pit Road in the town of Shields just after 6:28 p.m., as reported by the Country Herald.

Details of the Crash

Investigators said the teen was driving a 2006 Acura sedan northbound on County Road Q when the vehicle veered off the road.

“The car left the roadway and struck several trees before stopping about 50 yards into a wooded area,” deputies explained in their preliminary report.

The driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials are withholding the name until family members can be notified.

Emergency Response

Multiple agencies responded, including Watertown Fire and EMS, the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team, the Dodge County Chaplains, and the Dodge County Emergency Response Team.

“This remains an active investigation, and our thoughts are with the family of the victim during this difficult time,” Sheriff Dale J. Schmidt said in a statement.

Authorities continue to review the circumstances of the crash to determine contributing factors such as speed, road conditions, or possible impairment.

Community Impact

The sudden loss of a young driver has shaken the Watertown and Dodge County communities, where residents are already rallying around the victim’s family. Local officials stressed the importance of road safety, particularly along rural highways where curves, trees, and narrow shoulders can create additional hazards.

“Every life lost on our roads is a tragedy, and we encourage drivers to remain cautious, especially on rural routes,” the sheriff’s office added.
