Wisconsin Teen Who Shot His Newborn Daughter Twice in the Head Convicted of First-Degree Murder

MADISON, WISCONSIN — A Wisconsin man who shot his newborn daughter twice in the head and left her in the snow has been convicted of first-degree intentional homicide, nearly four years after the brutal crime shocked the state.

A Green County jury found 21-year-old Logan Kruckenberg Anderson guilty on Wednesday of both homicide and hiding a corpse, according to court officials. The verdict followed just two hours of deliberation, marking the end of a case that began when Anderson was a 16-year-old father.

A Tragic Secret: Newborn Killed Days After Birth

Prosecutors said Anderson’s girlfriend, then 14 years old, secretly gave birth to a baby girl named Harper in a bathtub on January 5, 2021. The teens kept the birth hidden from their families and later claimed they had arranged an adoption through Snapchat.

But within days, when the girl’s father couldn’t find the baby, he called 911 — leading investigators to question the young couple.

After initially lying to police, Anderson eventually confessed that he had taken the baby to a wooded area, left her in the snow, and walked away. When he heard her cry, he turned back and shot her twice in the head.

‘He Tried to Make Her Go Away’

During the trial, Prosecutor Adrienne Blais told jurors that Anderson viewed Harper as nothing more than a problem to be erased.

“It’s about one person fantasizing playing house,” Blais said. “It’s about one person bent on erasing a problem because that was what Harper was to him — a problem to screw up his life, so he got rid of her. He just tried to make her go away.”

Anderson’s defense attorney argued that his client’s confessions were unreliable and that investigators had ignored physical evidence. But prosecutors maintained the case was clear, supported by Anderson’s own words and the discovery of Harper’s body.

Jury Delivers Swift Verdict

Jurors deliberated for just over two hours before returning the guilty verdict on both counts. The courtroom fell silent as the judge announced the decision, bringing closure to a case that had haunted Green County since 2021.

Anderson now faces life in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for March 16, 2026.
