WAKEFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS – Strong thunderstorms are expected to sweep across eastern Massachusetts Saturday night, bringing heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and patchy fog that could create hazardous travel conditions into early Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Norton .

Storm Risk Saturday Night

The most active period is expected between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m., when rainfall totals may reach a quarter to half an inch. Winds could gust up to 29 mph, and visibility may fall below a mile at times due to rain and fog.

Communities such as Wakefield, Beverly, and Woburn should prepare for slippery roadways and potential power outages if tree limbs are brought down by strong winds.

Sunday: Cooler, Cloudy, but Drier

After the storms move out, cooler air will filter in Sunday, with highs only reaching the upper 60s. Patchy fog may linger in low-lying areas during the morning, but drier conditions will gradually take over through the afternoon.

Sunshine Returns Monday

By Monday, a stretch of calmer weather begins, with clear skies and highs in the mid-70s. Sunshine is expected to dominate into midweek, offering a welcome break after the unsettled weekend pattern.
