Federal Raid in North Carolina Seizes 75 Kilos of Drugs, Nearly $380K in Cash — Two Suspects Arrested

CATAWBA COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA — A major federal investigation has led to the seizure of nearly 75 kilograms of narcotics and $377,981 in cash from a home in the Catawba Valley region, authorities announced.

According to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), the probe began in February when investigators identified several suspected drug traffickers operating across western North Carolina. The operation quickly expanded after a county investigator, also serving as an ATF task force officer, conducted multiple controlled drug purchases that prompted the case to be adopted federally.

Search Leads to Massive Drug Seizure

On October 23, agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) executed a federal search warrant at a residence on Rocky Mount Road in Granite Falls.

Authorities seized the following during the raid:

  • 60.6 kilograms of methamphetamine (valued at $454,500)
  • 12.7 kilograms of cocaine (valued at $429,100)
  • 1.3 kilograms of fentanyl (valued at $39,000)
  • $377,981 in U.S. currency

Officials described the bust as one of the largest drug seizures in Catawba County history, dismantling a major narcotics supply chain that stretched across county lines.

Two Suspects in Custody

40-year-old Kenneth Travis, of Granite Falls, was arrested at the scene and charged with:

  • Conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine
  • Seven counts of trafficking methamphetamine
  • Two counts of maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for drug distribution

Travis is being held in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $1.2 million bond.

Authorities also arrested 48-year-old Oderia Dante Glaspy, of Hickory, on related charges, including:

  • Conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine
  • Two counts of trafficking methamphetamine
  • Maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for drug distribution

Glaspy remains in custody under a $450,000 bond.

The multi-agency operation involved cooperation between the ATF, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and several local departments, including:

  • Burke County Sheriff’s Office
  • Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office
  • Hickory Police Department
  • Maiden Police Department
  • Newton Police Department

Officials said additional state charges and federal indictments are pending as the investigation continues.
