Pueblo Weather Alert: Gusty Thunderstorms and Hail Risk Through Tuesday Evening

PUEBLO, Colo. — Strong thunderstorms are expected to rattle eastern Colorado on Tuesday, bringing the risk of gusty winds, frequent lightning, and hail up to one inch in diameter, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

Severe Weather Outlook

The storms are forecast to develop over the mountains in the afternoon before moving east into the plains. Forecasters warn that winds could gust up to 60 mph, capable of downing trees and power lines, particularly in rural areas.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-80s to lower 90s across the southeast plains, with cooler readings in the mountain valleys and higher elevations.

Communities at Highest Risk

The eastern plains from Lamar to Springfield face the greatest potential for severe weather Tuesday evening. Drivers traveling along Highways 50 and 287 should prepare for sudden drops in visibility caused by heavy rain and hail.

Local officials also caution that power outages are possible if storms intensify and strong winds bring down lines or branches.

Safety Recommendations

Emergency managers urge residents to:

  • Secure outdoor furniture and other loose items.
  • Avoid unnecessary travel during storm activity.
  • Move indoors immediately at the first sign of lightning.

Forecasters also noted that additional advisories could be issued if storms strengthen into the evening.

Midweek Forecast

While severe risks remain in place through Tuesday night, calmer and cooler conditions are expected to arrive by midweek, bringing temporary relief from the late-summer storm pattern.

Residents are urged to remain weather-aware throughout the day and take precautions to stay safe during severe weather. For more updates on storm risks across Colorado and the Midwest, follow ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
