National Drive Electric Month Makes It Easier to Test Drive EVs

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY – September marks National Drive Electric Month, a nationwide initiative where electric vehicle (EV) owners invite the public to learn about EVs firsthand — and even take a test drive.
EV Owners Open Their Cars to the Public
From coast to coast, community events are being held throughout the month to raise awareness about EV ownership.
In Louisville, Ellen Sisti Wade of the nonprofit Evolve Kentucky will showcase her car this Sunday at the Norton Commons community. Wade is among the many EV owners eager to share their experiences.
“There’s very little maintenance … and they’re quiet, and they’re powerful,” Wade said, adding that charging at home costs just a fraction of filling up a gas tank.
Firsthand Experience for New Drivers
At these events, attendees can ask questions about day-to-day EV ownership, charging, maintenance, and environmental impact. The highlight, however, is the chance to test drive privately owned EVs.
“We even allow them to test drive our own electric vehicles. We fondly call it ‘placing their butts in the seats,’” Wade explained. “It is amazing and pure joy to see the awe and wonder on their faces after they get out of that car.”
Building Confidence in EV Adoption
Wade hopes that giving newcomers a hands-on experience will inspire more people to make the switch to electric.
“This is my forever car,” she said, pointing to both the environmental benefits and cost savings that convinced her to stick with electric driving for good.
With events taking place across the country, National Drive Electric Month is designed to break down barriers, answer questions, and give people the confidence to join the growing EV movement. For more updates on community initiatives and sustainability, follow ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
