Crash on I-64 Leads to Closure

Trooper Zach Haney reported that I-64 Eastbound was shut down between mile markers 110 and 113 following an initial collision near the Bath County line. The wreck involved two vehicles and prompted the Bath County Sheriff’s Office to call for assistance from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

When the Montgomery County Sheriff arrived on scene to help manage traffic and investigate the wreck, he was struck by another vehicle.

Authorities confirmed that the sheriff’s patrol cruiser was totaled. Both he and the driver of the striking vehicle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
