Lexington Police Identify 81-Year-Old Man Found Shot to Death Inside Lakebow Court Home

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY — The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified Thomas Kriegel, 81, of Lexington, as the man found shot to death inside a home Friday afternoon, prompting an ongoing homicide investigation by local police.

According to the Lexington Police Department, officers responded to a call around 1 p.m. on October 24 at a residence on the 400 block of Lakebow Court, off Squires Road, after reports of a possible death inside the home.

When police arrived, they discovered Kriegel deceased from a gunshot wound, and the case was immediately classified as a homicide.

Investigation Continues, No Arrests Yet

The case is being investigated by the Lexington Police Personal Crimes Unit, but as of Saturday, no suspect information has been released.

Investigators remained at the scene for several hours processing evidence and canvassing the neighborhood. Authorities have not yet said whether the shooting appeared to be targeted or random.

“We’re asking anyone with information to please come forward,” a Lexington Police spokesperson said, noting that tips from the public could be key in advancing the case.
