Michigan Man, 48, Accused of Pistol-Whipping 62-Year-Old Girlfriend and Firing Gun Inside Car

TAYLOR, Michigan — A 48-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly pistol-whipping his 62-year-old girlfriend and firing a gun inside his vehicle during a violent confrontation late last month, authorities said.
The suspect, Bradly Carl Dickens, has been charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, domestic violence, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
Attack Began at Victim’s Home
The incident occurred on August 30 around 11:30 a.m., beginning at the woman’s home on the 15200 block of Kerstyn Street in Taylor, a city just southeast of Detroit.
Prosecutors allege that Dickens attacked his girlfriend, then forced her into his vehicle against her will.
Violence Escalates Inside Vehicle
Authorities say Dickens drove the woman to the intersection of Beech Daly Road and Leroy Street, where the violence escalated. He allegedly struck her multiple times in the head with a handgun and then fired the weapon several times inside the car while she was still trapped inside.
Miraculously, the victim managed to escape the vehicle, after which Dickens fled the scene, police said.
Arrest and Court Proceedings
Following an investigation by the Taylor Police Department, Dickens was arrested on September 23. He was arraigned on September 25 and given a $200,000 cash bond along with a GPS tether for electronic monitoring.
As part of his release conditions, Dickens was ordered to have no contact with the victim, and to refrain from possessing firearms, alcohol, or drugs.
His next court appearance is scheduled for October 6 for a probable cause conference.
