Louisville Man Fatally Struck by Car Along Dixie Highway in Meade County

MEADE COUNTY, KENTUCKY — A 34-year-old Louisville man was killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a car on Dixie Highway, according to the Kentucky State Police (KSP).

Troopers from KSP’s Elizabethtown Post responded to the scene shortly after 6:00 a.m. on October 19, following reports of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle in Meade County.

Investigators say Jordan Sanborn, 24, of Louisville, was driving a Nissan sedan northbound on Dixie Highway when he struck Troy Jackson, 34, who was walking along the roadway.

Victim Pronounced Dead at the Scene

Authorities confirmed that Troy Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Meade County Coroner’s Office. Officials have not yet disclosed why Jackson was walking along the highway at the time of the crash.

The driver, Sanborn, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown for treatment. Police said he is expected to recover.

“At this time, no charges have been filed, but the investigation remains ongoing,” a KSP spokesperson said Monday.

Investigation Continues

Kentucky State Police are continuing to investigate the crash, including factors such as lighting conditions, speed, and pedestrian visibility. The stretch of Dixie Highway where the collision occurred is known for heavy traffic and limited shoulder space, making it dangerous for pedestrians.

Authorities have not yet determined whether impairment or distraction played a role in the incident.
