Louisiana Woman Arrested After Allegedly Engaging in Illegal Relationship With 13-Year-Old Boy

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA — Deputies in East Baton Rouge Parish have arrested a 32-year-old woman after an investigation revealed she allegedly engaged in sexual activity with a 13-year-old boy on more than one occasion.

According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, Megan Moton, 32, was taken into custody following an extensive investigation that began when the victim’s mother discovered inappropriate text messages between her son and the woman.

Text Messages Led to Discovery

Authorities said the boy’s mother alerted law enforcement after finding messages between Moton and her son that contained lewd and explicit content. Detectives later obtained phone and text records showing communication between the two dating back to June 2024.

According to the arrest affidavit, investigators believe the first illegal encounter occurred sometime before October 2024. The affidavit also states that the boy told deputies the sexual encounters happened at Moton’s apartment.

Ongoing Investigation and Evidence

Detectives reported that Moton and the boy had exchanged multiple inappropriate messages over the summer months, suggesting an ongoing grooming pattern leading up to the alleged incidents.

The evidence reportedly includes both digital communication logs and witness statements collected by investigators.

Authorities said Moton was arrested following interviews and evidence review confirming her contact with the minor.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

Moton has been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, where she faces multiple charges related to unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Officials said the case is now moving through the Louisiana judicial process, with prosecutors reviewing evidence to determine formal charges and potential sentencing enhancements.

The sheriff’s office emphasized that protecting minors remains a top priority and urged parents to monitor children’s online and phone activity, as digital platforms often play a role in such cases.

Community Response

The arrest has sparked concern among Baton Rouge residents, many of whom expressed outrage online over the details of the case. Local authorities are urging families to use this incident as a reminder of the risks of unsupervised digital communication between adults and minors.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue examining communication records and seeking additional witnesses.
