Louisville Man Shot in the Face and Killed Inside Russell Neighborhood Home; 25-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Murder

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY — A late-night shooting inside a Russell neighborhood home left a man dead on Friday, and police say the woman who lived with him has now been charged with murder.

Police Find Man Shot in the Face Inside Cedar Street Home

Louisville Metro Police officers were called just before 9 p.m. to the 2700 block of Cedar Street, not far from South 26th Street and West Muhammad Ali Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they discovered a man in his 30s shot in the face. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the shooting occurred inside the residence.

25-Year-Old Woman Arrested, Charged With Domestic Violence Murder

On Saturday, police announced the arrest of 25-year-old Maria Swann.

According to newly released court documents:

Swann waived her Miranda rights and told detectives she shot the victim during a verbal argument inside the home.

Police also confirmed the pair lived together and were in a relationship.

Detectives Continue Building the Case

Authorities have not released additional details about the dispute leading up to the shooting, but the homicide unit continues its investigation.

Neighbors told officers they heard raised voices before gunfire echoed from the home.

Police say Swann will remain in custody as the case moves through the court system.
