Bowling Green Man Arrested After DUI Crash and Foot Chase on Kentucky Street

BOWLING GREEN, KY — A 26-year-old Bowling Green man has been arrested after allegedly causing a crash on Kentucky Street early Saturday morning and then attempting to flee from police on foot.
Crash on Kentucky Street
Authorities said multiple complaints came in about a truck hitting a vehicle in the 1200 block of Kentucky Street.
While officers were on the way, another person reported their truck had been rear-ended at a traffic light at East 12th Avenue and Kentucky Street.
The suspect vehicle left the scene, traveling toward Center Street. Officers later located it at the intersection of Center Street and East 12th Avenue, where it had disregarded a stop sign, struck a curb, and was missing its front passenger tire.
Suspect Identified and Arrested
Police said the driver, identified as Bryan J. Spencer, 26, stumbled out of the truck and then ran on foot toward East 12th Avenue and College Street.
Inside the truck, officers found:
- Spencer’s phone, still open with GPS directions to his home
- A bag of suspected marijuana
- The truck keys, which Spencer was carrying when officers caught up with him
When questioned, Spencer admitted he had been in the truck but claimed someone else was driving. He could only provide officers with a last name, and police records revealed no details of such a person.
Charges Filed
Spencer faces several charges, including:
- First-degree criminal mischief
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence (DUI)
- Third-degree fleeing or evading police
- Driving on a DUI-suspended license
He was scheduled for an arraignment on Monday morning.
This case highlights both the dangers of DUI-related crashes and the challenges police face when suspects attempt to flee or shift blame.
