Chicago Sky Get Off to a Hot Start as Memorial Day Weekend Sports and Events Crowd the City Calendar
CHICAGO, IL — The Chicago Sky are part of a busy Memorial Day weekend in the city, joining a full slate of games, concerts and festivals that stretches from downtown to the lakefront. Fans can catch the Sky against the Minnesota Lynx on May 23 as Chicago’s holiday calendar fills up fast.
That matchup is one of several marquee sports events on the schedule, alongside Cubs and White Sox baseball, a Chicago Fire FC home date and the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
Chicago sports anchor a holiday packed with big-ticket outings
The Sky game is one piece of a weekend built for local sports fans. The Cubs face the Houston Astros on May 22, May 23 and May 24, while the White Sox host the Minnesota Twins on May 25.
Chicago Fire FC also takes on Toronto FC on May 23, and the postgame lineup includes a Lupe Fiasco concert. At Soldier Field, the annual Soldier Field 10 returns on May 23 with runners finishing on the stadium’s 50-yard line after a course along Lake Michigan.
Festivals, concerts and neighborhood staples round out the weekend
Beyond the games, the city is leaning into its unofficial start of summer. The Belmont-Sheffield Music Fest runs May 22 through May 24 with tribute bands, food vendors and artisan booths, while the Randolph Street Market Festival brings more than 200 vendors to the West Loop on May 23 and May 24.
Other notable stops include Sueños Music Festival in Grant Park, the first-ever Forever Mine Music Festival at Union Park, and Lincoln Park Zoo’s free Memorial Day weekend kickoff with family activities, rides and a Ferris wheel.
