Florida Man Accused of Brutally Beating Girlfriend in Her Sleep and Killing Her Chihuahua, Police Say
BELLEVIEW, FL — A 52-year-old Florida man is behind bars after deputies say he beat his sleeping girlfriend with multiple household items and killed her Chihuahua as the dog tried to defend her during a violent attack inside their home.
‘Blood All Over the Walls’: 911 Caller Reported Grisly Scene
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, a frantic 911 caller repeatedly told dispatchers “he beat her”, describing a scene with blood covering the walls.
When deputies arrived at the Belleview home on Oct. 20, they found the victim crawling on the ground, covered in bruises, bleeding from her face and mouth, and described as “hysterical and disoriented.”
The victim told police that her boyfriend, Elliot Mack, launched the attack while she slept.
Victim: Attacker Used Utensil Holder, Speaker, and Dresser as Weapons
The woman said Mack struck her with a kitchen utensil holder, then a speaker, and eventually slammed a dresser onto her while she lay in bed.
During the beating, her Chihuahua attempted to defend her. The victim said Mack killed the dog, though she could not see exactly how. Deputies later found the dead Chihuahua stuffed inside a pillowcase, with blood spattered throughout the home.
According to deputies:
“The dog had unnecessarily suffered and died a cruel death.”
Neighbor Says Abuse Happened ‘Two or Three Times a Week’
A neighbor told investigators that the victim called her for help after the assault. She immediately dialed 911 after hearing the victim screaming.
The neighbor also claimed Mack had beaten the victim multiple times a week, but no one had reported it before.
When paramedics evaluated the victim, her blood pressure was dangerously high, but she refused transport to the hospital.
Suspect Returned to the Scene, Victim Feared He Would Kill Her
The affidavit states that Mack initially fled the residence after the attack — but returned and hit the victim again before leaving once more.
The woman told deputies she believed he was “coming back to kill her” and intended to take everything from her.
Arrest and Charges
Deputies obtained a warrant and arrested Elliot Mack on Nov. 3.
He now faces charges including:
- Domestic Battery
- Animal Cruelty Resulting in Death
Mack entered a not guilty plea and remains held without bond at the Marion County Jail. His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 2.
