Kentucky Man Arrested After Firing Shots Toward Family During Restaurant Parking Lot Dispute

VERSAILLES, KENTUCKY — A 36-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police say he opened fire in a restaurant parking lot Sunday afternoon during an argument that endangered several people, including children.

According to an arrest citation obtained by LEX 18, officers were called to United Drive in Versailles after reports of gunfire in the area. Responding officers quickly identified Tyler Estes as the suspect based on multiple witness accounts.

Witnesses Say Gunman Fired Shots at Occupied Vehicle

Police said Estes initially fired two rounds into the air, then turned and shot two more rounds toward another vehicle that was occupied by two adults and two children.

Witnesses told officers that one of the adults inside the vehicle had been involved in an argument with Estes moments earlier, escalating into gunfire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported despite the close-range shots.

When officers located Estes, he was ordered to surrender. According to police, he ignored several commands before being safely taken into custody without further incident.

Suspect Booked on Four Felony Counts

Estes has been charged with four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, a Class D felony in Kentucky. He was transported to and booked at the Woodford County Detention Center, where he remains pending further court proceedings.

Investigators said the case remains open as detectives continue to review surveillance footage and gather additional witness statements.
