Kentucky Mother Arrested for Alleged Criminal Abuse and Endangerment of Two Young Children
WAYNE COUNTY, KENTUCKY — A Wayne County mother has been arrested and charged after two young children were hospitalized with multiple injuries, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they were called to the Wayne County Hospital Emergency Room on Monday night after doctors reported signs of suspected child abuse. Medical staff told investigators that both children had “multiple injuries to their bodies”, including what was believed to be membrane tissue damage inside both ears.
Doctors Alerted Authorities to Signs of Abuse
Hospital staff ordered CT scans on both children to assess potential head injuries and determine whether they needed to be transferred to the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital for specialized treatment.
Officials said an investigator from the Kentucky Department of Children’s Protective Services (CPS) arrived at the hospital to assist in the investigation.
Results later confirmed that neither child had head trauma, and both were released into the custody of their grandmother under CPS supervision.
Mother Arrested and Charged With Felonies
At approximately 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, deputies arrested Kaylee Judd and charged her with:
- Two counts of first-degree criminal abuse (child 12 or younger)
- Two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor
Judd was booked into the Wayne County Detention Center, where she remains in custody pending arraignment.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have not disclosed the children’s ages or the nature of the alleged abuse beyond the reported injuries. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and CPS continue to investigate the case.
Officials said additional charges may be filed as new evidence emerges.
