Madison Man in His 20s Shot and Killed on North Side as Police Search for Suspect
MADISON, Wisconsin — A man in his 20s is dead following a northside shooting Monday afternoon, according to the Madison Police Department, which has launched an active investigation and is urging residents with any information or video to come forward immediately.
Victim Found Shot in Middle of the Road Near Warner Park
The shooting was reported around 2:40 p.m. on the 2400 block of Brentwood Parkway, an area just northeast of Warner Park, dispatchers told WMTV.
Officers arrived minutes later and found the victim lying in the middle of the roadway with a gunshot wound.
He was rushed to a hospital but did not survive, MPD PIO Stephanie Fryer confirmed.
Police said the victim was a man in his 20s, and early findings indicate the shooting was targeted, not random.
Investigators Reviewing Video and Speaking with Witnesses
Detectives with MPD’s Violent Crime Unit spent the evening canvassing the area, collecting physical evidence, and reviewing security footage from nearby properties, according to WMTV’s reporting.
Investigators are also interviewing witnesses who were in the neighborhood at the time.
Despite the heavy police presence, no arrests have been made.
Fryer emphasized that community information may be crucial:
“If you saw something, heard something, or have video of this incident… officers are asking that you provide this information to Madison Area Crime Stoppers.”
Police did not release details on the suspect or motive as the investigation remains active.
