San Antonio Police Seize 500 Pounds of Meth Worth $1M in Railcar Bust

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Authorities uncovered more than 500 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside a railcar in transit, seizing drugs valued at over $1 million, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
The bust happened Sunday morning during a joint operation that included the SAPD High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) detail, the Drug Enforcement Administration HIDTA task force, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, and Union Pacific Special Agents.
K9 Alert Leads to Discovery
Investigators said the drugs were found after a narcotics detection K9 alerted officers during a rail freight inspection. The discovery prompted a full search of the railcar, where law enforcement recovered the massive meth shipment.
SAPD confirmed the narcotics were removed and secured as evidence.
Street Value and Ongoing Investigation
Officials estimate the seized drugs have a street value exceeding $1 million, making this one of the largest meth seizures in the region this year.
The case remains under active investigation, with HIDTA detectives and DEA agents working to trace the shipment’s origins and determine its intended destination.
Multi-Agency Cooperation
Police emphasized that the seizure highlights the importance of multi-agency collaboration in disrupting large-scale drug trafficking operations. Joint enforcement efforts have been critical in stopping narcotics shipments that use rail networks as covert transport routes.
Authorities said no arrests have yet been confirmed in connection with the seizure. For further updates on this developing case and other community safety news, follow ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
