Wisconsin Teen Accused of Stabbing Cousin to Death During Fight Over Taco Bell Job
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN — A 19-year-old woman who recently moved from Mississippi to Wisconsin is accused of stabbing her cousin to death after a heated argument over a Taco Bell job, according to police and court documents.
The suspect, identified as Rae’Jianna D. Hall, was charged with reckless homicide, with domestic abuse and dangerous weapon modifiers, following the September 29 stabbing that killed 18-year-old Jaquveon Wright.
Argument Over Job Turns Deadly
According to a criminal complaint filed October 4, Hall had recently moved into a Milwaukee duplex with her cousin, Wright, and his girlfriend. She had secured a position at Taco Bell through Wright’s mother but was later fired from the job.
On September 29, Hall allegedly asked Wright for help getting her job back, but the discussion escalated into an argument that turned violent, police said.
“She was mad that (Wright) was not assisting her in obtaining employment at a Taco Bell,” investigators wrote in the report.
Hall told police that Wright “got up in her face”, prompting her to pepper spray him and arm herself with a knife.
Fight Spanned Nearly an Hour Before Fatal Stabbing
Around 1 p.m., Wright called his mother asking for help. She arrived with her husband and found the pair still arguing inside the duplex, according to the complaint.
Witnesses, including Wright’s girlfriend, told police that the fight lasted nearly an hour, with shoving and punches exchanged before the confrontation moved into Hall’s bedroom.
Moments later, Wright’s girlfriend said she saw “blood all over the walls”, and Wright’s mother watched as her son stumbled out of the duplex with blood pouring from his neck.
Surveillance video captured Wright collapsing outside from severe blood loss, investigators said.
Hall Claims Self-Defense
When questioned by police, Hall admitted she stabbed Wright but claimed it was not intentional, saying she acted out of fear and self-defense.
“She said she hadn’t intended to stab him but was afraid for her safety,” the criminal complaint read.
Police recovered the knife at the scene, and Hall was taken into custody without incident. No attorney information was available for her as of October 7.
Charges Filed
Hall faces a charge of first-degree reckless homicide, enhanced by domestic abuse and use of a dangerous weapon modifiers.
Court records show she remains held at the Milwaukee County Jail pending further proceedings.
The case has sparked renewed discussion around domestic violence and mental health support for young adults facing family and employment struggles.
