Portage County Authorities Arrest Mother After Missing Child Found With Uncle

PORTAGE COUNTY, WI — Authorities have arrested the mother of a six-year-old girl at the center of a recent Amber Alert in Portage County. Officials say she is now facing multiple charges tied to the case.

Missing Child Triggers Amber Alert

On Thursday, six-year-old Ruby Lehmann was reported missing from her grandmother’s home in Almond, Wisconsin.Investigators learned that her uncle, 34-year-old Jordan Coyle, had taken her without permission.

An Amber Alert was issued as law enforcement searched for the child.

Child and Uncle Found Near Almond

By Saturday, authorities located Ruby and Coyle in the school forest near Almond.

Ruby was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation but was found to have no physical injuries. Officials confirmed she is safe.

Coyle, meanwhile, was taken into custody and is currently being held on a probation violation.

Mother Also Arrested

The Portage County District Attorney announced that Ruby’s biological mother, 31-year-old Chelsie Lehmann, was also arrested in connection with the case.

Lehmann was booked into the Portage County Jail on charges of aiding a felon and obstructing an officer.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday. A separate court date for Coyle has not yet been set.

The case highlights how quickly Amber Alerts can mobilize communities and law enforcement to ensure a child’s safety. Authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding Ruby’s disappearance.
