WEST ALLIS, WISCONSIN — Police have arrested two people in connection with the homicide of a 4-year-old boy who was found unresponsive over the weekend in West Allis, authorities confirmed Monday.
The West Allis Police Department said a 21-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, both residents of West Allis, were taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation into the child’s death.
Emergency dispatchers first received a 911 call around 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, from a woman who said she was driving her unresponsive son to the hospital. Dispatchers instructed her to stop near a West Allis Fire Department station, guiding her through CPR instructions over the phone.
The woman pulled over in the Dairy Queen parking lot near 108th Street and Greenfield Avenue, where first responders arrived within minutes and began life-saving measures before transporting the child to the hospital.
4-Year-Old Pronounced Dead at Hospital, Death Ruled Homicide
Despite emergency efforts, the 4-year-old boy, identified as Dante Campbell, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at a local hospital. According to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office, his preliminary cause of death has been ruled a homicide.
“This is a heartbreaking case for our community,” West Allis Police said in a statement, adding that no additional suspects are being sought at this time.
Officials have not yet disclosed the relationship between the suspects and the victim, but the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is expected to review the case and announce formal charges in the coming days.
Ongoing Investigation in West Allis Neighborhood
The death of young Dante has deeply shaken the West Allis community. Police and crime scene investigators remained in the area near 108th and Greenfield for several hours over the weekend, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
While few details have been released publicly, authorities confirmed that this remains an active homicide investigation and more information will be shared once the district attorney finalizes charges.
