Michigan Woman Stabs Teen Inside Kids Foot Locker After Argument Over Declined Card, Police Say

TAYLOR, MICHIGAN — A shopping trip at the Southland Center mall turned violent when a woman allegedly pulled a kitchen knife and stabbed a teenage shopper inside Kids Foot Locker after an argument over her declined credit card, police said.

According to WJBK Fox 2 Detroit, the 40-year-old suspect was at the store with her children when someone behind her in line allegedly mocked her, calling her a “broke b—.” Enraged, she allegedly lashed out and stabbed 19-year-old Suniya Jenkins multiple times.

Witness Says Fight Escalated Over Insult

Jenkins told reporters she was near the register when the chaos began. She said she didn’t make the insulting remark but stepped into the store after hearing shouting.

“I think it was unfair to me to get stabbed,” Jenkins said. “To start, I was stabbed four times and I have a punctured lung right now.”

She said the woman threatened her moments before the attack.
“As the argument got verbal, she put her hand in her purse and proceeded to tell me she was going to shoot me,” Jenkins recalled. “I did not even know I was stabbed until after the physical altercation.”

Police Arrest Suspect; Victim Expected to Recover

Police confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody shortly after the incident and is expected to face assault and weapons charges. Investigators have not released her name publicly.

Jenkins was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries to her neck, stomach, and thigh, and doctors said she is expected to make a full recovery.

Despite the attack, Jenkins expressed empathy for the suspect’s family.
“I am going to press charges, but it does sadden me because I don’t want her to be taken away from her children,” she said.
