Texas Man Arrested After Seven-Hour Standoff for Allegedly Threatening to Dismember Roommate and ‘Feed Him to the Cat’ Over Loose Pets

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — A 52-year-old Texas man is behind bars after police say he barricaded himself inside his home for hours and threatened to dismember his roommate and “feed him to the cat” during an explosive confrontation sparked by accidentally released pets. Bobby Rocha surrendered to police Sunday following a seven-hour standoff at his San Antonio residence.

Roommate Says Threat Began After Pets Got Out

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by KSAT, Rocha’s longtime roommate — who said he had known Rocha since childhood — accidentally let Rocha’s dog and cat out of the house on Saturday afternoon. When he returned without the animals, Rocha allegedly became enraged.

The roommate told police that Rocha pointed a gun at him and threatened to “chop him into pieces, and feed him to the cat.” Fearing for his safety, the roommate grabbed his belongings, fled the home, and called 911.

Suspect Barricaded Himself and Told Police He Was “Willing to Die Inside the House”

When officers arrived at the home, they attempted to make contact with Rocha, but he refused to engage. According to police, Rocha declared that he was “willing to die inside the house” rather than surrender.

Authorities established a perimeter and began negotiating. The standoff stretched through the night until early Sunday, lasting approximately seven hours, according to KENS.

Peaceful Surrender After Long Negotiations

Finally, Rocha exited the home with his hands raised and was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.

Charges: Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon

Rocha was charged with:

  • Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
  • Obstruction or retaliation

He was booked into the Bexar County Jail, where he is being held on $40,000 bond. Court records list his next appearance for February 26, 2026.

Longtime Relationship Between Roommates Makes Case More Disturbing

The roommate told investigators the two had been close since childhood, making the violent threat more alarming. Police have not released additional details about Rocha’s mental state during the standoff.
