Lexington’s Preston’s Spring Park Reopens After Police Search for Missing Person

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY — A popular Lexington park that was temporarily closed during a police search for a missing person has now reopened to the public, officials confirmed Sunday evening.

According to the Lexington Police Department, Preston’s Spring Park was closed for several hours after officers arrived around 11 a.m. on October 26 to assist with the investigation. Authorities said the closure was necessary to allow crews to conduct a thorough search of the area.

Police emphasized that there was no threat to the public during the operation and asked residents to avoid the area while the search was underway.

Search Ends Safely, Park Reopens by Evening

By 7 p.m. Sunday, Lexington Police announced that the search had concluded and the park was fully reopened to visitors. The department thanked the public for its patience during the temporary closure.

“The search at Preston’s Spring Park has ended, and the park is now open,” police wrote in a Facebook update, noting that additional information about the case may be released later.

Officials have not disclosed details about the missing person investigation, including whether anyone was found or if the case remains active.

Community Cooperation Praised

Local authorities commended park visitors and nearby residents for cooperating with law enforcement while the park was closed. The search prompted temporary traffic and pedestrian restrictions in the surrounding area, though normal activity resumed by nightfall.

The Lexington Police Department said it will continue to monitor the park and share updates as more details become available.
