Louisville Man Dies After Being Shot in the Head Outside Club Cedar; City Suspends Bar’s Liquor License
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY — A man in his 40s has died after being shot in the head outside Club Cedar, a popular nightlife spot in west Louisville, late Saturday night. Police say the case is now being investigated as a homicide.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), officers responded to reports of a shooting around 11:45 p.m. Saturday in the 4100 block of West Broadway, outside Club Cedar.
When police arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition but died the next morning around 10:20 a.m. Sunday.
Police Launch Homicide Investigation, No Arrests Yet
The LMPD Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. So far, no arrests have been made, and detectives are still working to identify suspects or a possible motive.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” police said in a statement, urging witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

City Suspends Club Cedar’s Liquor License After Shooting
Following the deadly incident, Louisville Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) issued an emergency suspension order for Club Cedar’s liquor license, citing immediate public safety concerns.
In a statement, Metro ABC said:
“Louisville Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control has issued an Emergency Suspension Order for Club Cedar following a shooting that occurred at the establishment last night. Our thoughts are with the victim and his family during this difficult time. The incident remains under investigation in coordination with LMPD.”
The agency added that it would continue to enforce Mayor Craig Greenberg’s “Safe Louisville Plan”, targeting businesses that pose risks to public safety.

The fatal shooting marks another violent weekend in Louisville, where police have responded to multiple homicides in recent months. Residents in the area expressed frustration over the ongoing gun violence near local nightlife venues.
