This year’s event will also feature a free kids’ race, ensuring the whole family can join in the action.

Two Days of Outdoor Adventure

The excitement doesn’t stop on Saturday. On Sunday, Aug. 24, the companion event, Groovin’ in the Aspens – formerly known as Gaspin’ in the Aspens – returns with trail distances of 6K, 10K, 20K, 30K, and 50K. Starting at 8 a.m., runners will weave through towering aspens and pines in the scenic Flagstaff trail system, a backdrop that has made the race a fan favorite among outdoor enthusiasts.

Race-day registration will open at 6:30 a.m. at the Fort Valley Trailhead, with early packet pickup available from 12–4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22 at Run Flagstaff (204-A E. Route 66). Registration deadlines are Aug. 21 for Groovin’ in the Aspens and Aug. 22 for Bear Jaw Groove.

Organizers encourage participants to make donations to High Country Adaptive Sports, a nonprofit dedicated to enriching lives through accessible outdoor activities.

In addition to fostering athletic competition, the event aims to strengthen community bonds by welcoming seasoned racers, first-time riders, families, and supporters to come together in a vibrant outdoor setting.
