Bowling Green Police Investigating Deadly Russellville Road Crash Near Hardee’s

BOWLING GREEN, KENTUCKY — Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred late Saturday night on Russellville Road, leaving one person dead and another injured.

According to Public Information Officer Ronnie Ward with the Bowling Green Police Department (BGPD), officers responded around midnight to the 2300 block of Russellville Road, near Hardee’s and Fox Ridge Court, after receiving reports of a severe two-vehicle crash.

Car Crossed Into Oncoming Traffic, One Killed

Investigators said a car crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on, causing catastrophic damage.
A passenger in the struck vehicle died from their injuries at the scene, while another person was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

“Our accident reconstruction unit is continuing to piece together what happened and why the vehicle veered into the opposite lane,” Ward said.

Police have not yet released the victim’s name pending family notification, and no arrests have been made at this time.

BGPD Reconstruction Unit Leading the Investigation

The Bowling Green Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team has been on the scene since late Saturday, working to determine contributing factors such as speed, distraction, or impairment.

Traffic was briefly shut down along the 2300 block of Russellville Road as officers cleared debris and documented evidence. The investigation remains ongoing.

Residents in the area reported a heavy police presence near Hardee’s and Fox Ridge Court as first responders and medical crews worked through the night.

BGPD is expected to release further details once the victim’s identity and cause of the crash are confirmed.
