California Police Search Home of Missing 9-Year-Old Melodee Buzzard’s Mother Amid Ongoing Investigation

VANDERBERG VILLAGE, CALIFORNIA — Authorities have searched the home of the mother of missing 9-year-old Melodee Buzzard, deepening concerns in a case that has gripped the Central Coast since mid-October.

According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, investigators executed a search warrant Thursday at the family’s Vanderberg Village residence, where Melodee last lived before vanishing nearly three weeks ago.

Mother Reportedly Uncooperative in Search Effort

Officials confirmed that Melodee’s mother has been uncooperative throughout the investigation. Deputies served the warrant in an effort to uncover any leads regarding the child’s whereabouts.

Melodee was first reported missing on October 14, but her last confirmed sighting came a week earlier, on October 7, when she appeared on security footage at a car rental business.

Authorities have not disclosed whether any items of evidentiary value were recovered during the home search.

“The case remains an active missing person investigation,” the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said in a brief statement.
