Kentucky Man Charged With Murder After Crash Kills Three Teenagers in Glasgow
GLASGOW, KENTUCKY — A Metcalfe County man is facing murder charges after police say he caused a deadly crash that killed three teenagers in Glasgow last month.
According to the Glasgow Police Department, Asa Howard, of Edmonton, Kentucky, was arrested on Saturday and charged with murder, assault, and wanton endangerment following the October 17 collision on North Jackson Highway.
Police: Driver Was Speeding and Under the Influence
Investigators said Howard was driving at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at the intersection of Veteran Outer Loop, striking another car carrying the three teens. The impact left all three victims fatally injured.
Authorities say Howard fled the scene on foot after the crash but was later apprehended. Officers determined he was under the influence of an intoxicating substance at the time of the collision.
The police report described the crash as one of the most severe in recent years for the small Kentucky community.
Charges and Ongoing Investigation
Howard now faces multiple felony charges, including three counts of murder, first-degree assault, and wanton endangerment. Police say additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
The Glasgow Police Department confirmed that the case remains active and is being reviewed in coordination with the Barren County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
No information has yet been released about the identities of the teenage victims, pending family notifications.
Community in Mourning After Tragic Loss
The fatal crash has deeply shaken residents of Glasgow and nearby communities, with local schools and churches organizing vigils in honor of the teens. City leaders called the event “a devastating reminder of the dangers of impaired driving.”
Asa Howard remains in custody as investigators finalize toxicology results and reconstruct the crash sequence. Police have urged anyone with additional information or dashcam footage from the area of North Jackson Highway around October 17 to contact Glasgow Police immediately.
As Kentucky authorities continue to pursue justice for the three young victims, residents are calling for stronger awareness campaigns against reckless and impaired driving. For continued updates on Kentucky public safety and crime news, visit ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
