Lexington Police Discover Human Remains Near Masterson Station Park, Believe Woman Died Naturally
LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY — Police have launched an investigation after skeletal human remains were discovered near Masterson Station Park in Lexington on Saturday afternoon, officials confirmed.
According to the Lexington Police Department, officers responded to the 3100 block of Leestown Road around 1 p.m. after receiving reports of possible human remains near the park’s wooded area.
Upon arrival, investigators confirmed that the remains appeared to be human skeletal remains.
Preliminary Findings Suggest Natural Causes
Authorities said the remains are believed to belong to a female individual and that early evidence suggests she may have died of natural causes.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office is assisting police in the investigation and will conduct further testing to confirm the individual’s identity and cause of death.
“At this time, there is no indication of foul play,” officers told WKYT, noting that forensic specialists are still processing the scene and awaiting lab results.
Identity Not Yet Released
The Fayette County Coroner has not yet released the person’s name, pending official identification and notification of next of kin. Police are continuing to search nearby areas for any personal belongings or evidence that could help establish a timeline.
Authorities have not disclosed how long the remains may have been at the site.
As Lexington Police continue their investigation, officials say updates will be provided once testing is complete. For continued coverage of local investigations and public safety news across Kentucky, visit ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
