Milwaukee Man Arrested After Driving 107 MPH on I-41 in Waukesha County While High With 4 Kids in Car
WAUKESHA COUNTY, WISCONSIN — A 24-year-old Milwaukee man is facing multiple charges after police say he was driving 107 mph while under the influence with four children under the age of 16 inside his vehicle.
According to a Wisconsin Department of Transportation news release, Ryad Elmahdi was stopped by a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper around 4:29 p.m. on October 26 after being clocked at 107 mph in a 70 mph zone along Interstate 41 near County Line Road.
Inside the vehicle were five passengers — four minors and one adult — in addition to Elmahdi, troopers said.
Trooper Detected Drug Impairment During Traffic Stop
When the trooper approached the vehicle, they detected signs of drug-related impairment and administered field sobriety tests, which Elmahdi failed, according to the report.
He was taken to a local hospital for a legal blood draw before being booked into custody.
Elmahdi now faces several charges, including:
- Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) with passengers under 16 years old
- Possession of THC
- Reckless driving endangering safety
- Operating while suspended
- Operating without insurance
- Child safety restraint violation
Adult Passenger Also Arrested on Separate Warrants
The adult passenger in the vehicle was also taken into custody after allegedly obstructing police during the stop. Authorities said the passenger was wanted on three active warrants.
Officials confirmed that this was Elmahdi’s first OWI offense, though his reckless driving endangered all occupants in the car.
“This type of conduct could have easily resulted in tragedy,” a Wisconsin State Patrol spokesperson said, noting that impaired driving and speeding continue to be leading causes of serious crashes statewide.
As the case proceeds through Waukesha County Circuit Court, officials are reminding drivers that speeding and driving under the influence — especially with children present — carry severe legal and safety consequences.
