San Francisco Weather: First Rain in Weeks Expected Early Next Week

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — After weeks of sunny, dry weather, the Bay Area is preparing for its first rainfall in nearly a month, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Weekend Sunshine Before Showers

Sunny skies will continue Friday and Saturday, with daytime highs in the low to mid-70s and nighttime lows dipping into the upper 50s. Coastal areas and bridges may see breezy winds up to 23 mph, prompting officials to caution drivers about potential travel impacts.

A weak Pacific storm system is expected to approach late Sunday night, bringing a 20% chance of showers after 11 p.m.

Rain and Thunderstorms Monday

Rain chances will rise sharply into Monday, when scattered showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast across San Francisco and neighboring counties. Winds could increase beyond 20 mph Sunday night, making for unsettled conditions.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency urged commuters to allow extra travel time Monday morning and prepare for slower commutes during peak rain periods.

Midweek Forecast Outlook

The unsettled weather pattern could extend through Wednesday, with additional shower chances early in the week before skies gradually clear.
