Lexington Police Arrest 39-Year-Old Man After Early Morning Shooting on Boxwood Drive

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY — A 39-year-old man has been arrested after an early morning shooting on Boxwood Drive, according to the Lexington Police Department. The incident left one person hospitalized but expected to recover.

Police said they were called to the 3800 block of Boxwood Drive, near New Circle Road and Georgetown, around 3 a.m. Monday following reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found a shooting victim who was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.

Suspect Arrested at the Scene

Authorities confirmed they arrested a suspect at the scene shortly after arriving. The individual has since been identified as Leonard Slaughter, 39, of Lexington.

Police said Slaughter was charged with two counts of assault and wanton endangerment following the incident. He was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center, where records show he remains in custody pending further court proceedings.

Investigation and Public Assistance

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including what may have led to the altercation. Officers have not yet released details about the victim’s identity or whether the suspect and victim knew each other.
