Off-Duty Owensboro Cop Charged With Assault After Domestic Dispute Leaves Two Injured
OWENSBORO, KENTUCKY — An Owensboro Police Department officer has been arrested and placed on administrative leave following a domestic violence incident that occurred while she was off duty, according to authorities.
Deputies with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence in the 3800 block of Little Bluestem Drive around 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, where they found both Officer Christina Butler and a juvenile with minor injuries to their face and neck.
Deputies Respond to Domestic Disturbance
Investigators said the altercation took place inside a private home in Owensboro. After assessing the situation, deputies determined that both individuals were involved in a physical confrontation.
Following an on-scene investigation, Butler and the juvenile were taken into custody and each charged with Assault – Domestic Violence. Butler was booked into the Daviess County Detention Center, while the juvenile was released into the custody of the Department of Community Based Services.
Officials later confirmed that Butler has since posted bond and been released from jail.
Department Response and Ongoing Internal Review
In an official statement shared with local station WFIE, the Owensboro Police Department said:
“The Owensboro Police Department takes the conduct of our officers very seriously whether it is on or off duty. Officer Butler has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation. No other details will be released at this time.”
