West Virginia Woman Arrested in Louisa Traffic Stop After Police Find Fentanyl and Drug Paraphernalia
LOUISA, KENTUCKY — A West Virginia woman was taken into custody Monday after a routine traffic stop in Louisa led to the discovery of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia, police said.
According to the Louisa Police Department, officers pulled over a vehicle after noticing its license plate light was not properly illuminated. Inside the vehicle was 41-year-old Louri McKinney of Crum, West Virginia, who was a passenger.
After issuing a verbal warning for the light violation, officers requested permission to search the car — which both the driver and McKinney granted.
Traffic Stop Turns Into Drug Bust
During the search, police uncovered a variety of drug-related items, including:
- A cut green straw
- Syringes and needles
- A pink rubber container
- A white bag containing residue
- Multiple clear plastic baggies
- Four white pills wrapped in cigarette cellophane
Officers later confirmed that the recovered substance tested positive for fentanyl.
False Identity and Multiple Charges
According to the arrest citation, McKinney initially identified herself as “Stephanie Jude” but later admitted her true identity after further questioning.
She was charged with:
- First-degree possession of a controlled substance (Fentanyl)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Controlled substance prescription not in proper container
McKinney was booked into the Big Sandy Detention Center, where she remains in custody.
