Minnesota Man Accused of Running Over His Wife After She Jumped from Their Moving Truck During Drunken Argument, Deputies Say
SIBLEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA — A 48-year-old Minnesota man has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide after authorities say his wife jumped out of their moving truck during a late-night argument and was fatally run over. Investigators say the suspect appeared intoxicated and later made multiple emotional statements acknowledging he had killed her.
Caller Told Police His Wife Jumped Out of the Truck and Was Run Over
Deputies responded to the area of County Road 17 and 310th Street after a man called 911 reporting that his wife had jumped from their vehicle during an argument.
When officers arrived, they found a Dodge Ram pickup still running and the driver, Jeremy Micheal Davidson, lying on top of the vehicle in an apparently intoxicated state. Deputies removed him from the truck and placed him under arrest.
Law enforcement noted slurred speech, the odor of alcohol, and visible signs of impairment. Davidson reportedly admitted that he and his wife, Melissa Davidson, had been drinking before the incident.
Suspect Claims Wife Became Upset, Punched Him, and Jumped While Truck Was Moving
According to the criminal complaint, Davidson told officers that Melissa “got p—ed” during their drive home and began punching him from the passenger seat.
He claimed he told her to stop, and that’s when she opened the door and jumped out of the moving truck.
Authorities say the vehicle was traveling roughly 50 miles per hour when she exited. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Davidson refused field sobriety tests at the scene but continued speaking openly after being placed in the squad car.
Squad Car Footage Captures Defendant’s Emotional Statements
Officers reviewing squad car video noted that Davidson repeatedly expressed panic, guilt, and disbelief. Among the statements he allegedly made:
“Prison. I am going to prison, she’s dead.”
“I killed my wife.”
“Just gets drunk, jumps out of a f—ing truck. Make it make sense.”
“One drunk dumb f—ing move.”
“I just killed my wife dude.”
“Why would you jump out of a truck doing 50 miles per hour?”
“Bring her back. I will go for life. Just bring my wife back.”
Investigators say his comments were consistent with what responding deputies observed, including apparent intoxication and confusion about the events that led to his wife’s death.
Suspect Has Prior Felony DWI Conviction; Released With Strict Conditions
Court documents show Davidson has a prior felony DWI conviction from 2007, a factor prosecutors noted in the current vehicular homicide case.
He now faces:
- Up to 10 years in prison for criminal vehicular homicide
- Up to 7 years for an associated DWI charge
Davidson was released from custody on Tuesday under strict conditions, including electronic monitoring, no alcohol or drugs, and court supervision.
He is scheduled to return to court on January 29.
As investigators continue to piece together the timeline leading to Melissa Davidson’s death, the case has raised questions about alcohol use, domestic conflict, and roadside safety. For continued updates on major criminal investigations across the Midwest, visit ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
