Three Milwaukee Shootings in One Day Leave Three Wounded — Police Say Incidents Unrelated, One Arrest Made After Crash Dispute
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN — A series of three unrelated shootings across Milwaukee on Sunday left three people injured and sent police searching for multiple suspects, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.
The first shooting, which followed a car crash confrontation, resulted in one arrest, while two other incidents later in the day remain under investigation. All victims survived their injuries, police confirmed.
Crash Confrontation Turns Violent on Capitol Drive
The first shooting occurred around 11:50 a.m. on the 7100 block of West Capitol Drive, when an argument after a vehicle collision escalated into gunfire.
Police say a 35-year-old man was shot during the dispute and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers arrested a 28-year-old suspect at the scene.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing potential charges related to the case.
Two Afternoon Shootings Under Investigation
Just a few hours later, around 2 p.m., officers responded to another shooting on the 4700 block of North 50th Street. A 35-year-old victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Then, at approximately 3 p.m., a third shooting was reported on the 1000 block of West Atkinson Avenue, where a 59-year-old man was also hospitalized with non-fatal injuries.
Police say the circumstances surrounding both the 50th Street and Atkinson Avenue shootings remain under investigation, and no arrests have been made in those cases.
Ongoing Investigations Across the City
Authorities are working to determine what led up to the later shootings, though officials have not linked any of the incidents. Milwaukee police have asked the public for assistance as they piece together the events from a violent afternoon across the city.
“We continue to rely on community cooperation to bring those responsible to justice,” the department said in a statement.
Residents with information are urged to call the Milwaukee Police Department at (414) 935-7360 or to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at (414) 224-8477 or through the P3 Tips app.
All three victims are expected to recover, according to police.
